The West African country of Ghana welcomed the arrival of Miss World 2011, Ivian Sarcos, yesterday, May 19. She was accompanied by chairperson of Miss World Organisation, Julia Morley, Miss World second runner-up, Amanada Vilanova, and Miss World England 2011, Alize Lily Mounter. They were met by the Mayor of Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, CEO of Exclusive Events Inna Marriam Patty, and Miss Ghana 2010 Stephanie Karikari at the Kotoka International Airport in the country’s capital, Accra.
Miss Sarcos is in the African nation to support and help Miss Karikari’s beauty with a purpose project that works to help the underprivileged children in the slums of Sodom and Gomorrah in Accra. Miss Karikari is currently working to help raise funds for the building of a nursery centre for these children. With the help of the Miss World organisation, they will raise funds through a charity ball which is slated on the 22nd of May at the Banquet Hall, State House.
Miss Karikari won the Beauty with a Purpose Award together with Astrid Ellena of Indonesia last year in London.
The Miss World organisation, through its theme Beauty with a Purpose, is continuously helping disadvantage communities worldwide especially children through fundraising projects.
